Firefox is one of the most popular web browsers in recent times, and probably the most popular in terms of open source. But do you know the history of the firefox logo and how it changed over the years? Let's check out few interesting details here.
Is that a FOX!!
The animal which is represented here in the firefox logo, there is a common misbelief that it's a fox and hence named as firefox. But that's not true, the animal here is actually a Red panda. The name firefox is said to be derived from the nickname of Red Panda.

The logo has not changed much since 2004, A Red panda can be seen encircling the blue circle which represents the earth. The logo may imply that the browser is fast and is accessible to users worldwide without any restrictions.
However, this was not the logo of choice for firefox at its inception, as the Firefox project has undergone several name changes. The project started named Phoenix, after the mythical bird that rose triumphantly from the ashes of its dead predecessor. Later the name was changed to "Firebird" due to trademark claims, which was again changed to "Firefox" due to the trademark claims again!!.
